Pavillon Reviews

It is a Zurich classic to stay at the Hotel Baur du Lac, and its upmarket restaurant Pavillon is a particularly beautiful setting in which to eat superb French food. When we were there, we had the opportunity of tasting some outstanding meals, such as carabinero with curry and turbot with morels, among others. Although some of the meals were delicious, several of them did not completely satisfy me in terms of texture, flavor or overall quality. Overall, the servings were a little too heavy for my liking. Service was also very formal and attentive, but not always at the expected level, as evidenced by the fact that they served the wrong wine into a half-full glass and did not explain anything about the dish they served, as well as the fact that waiting times between courses varied from a few minutes to more than three-quarters of an hour. For the record, although this is unquestionably a very nice venue for an exquisite night out, it falls short of providing the ideal dining experience that one would anticipate from one of Zurich’s most prominent restaurants and hotels.
