A friend and I went there for lunch on a Friday in April and had a great time. I went for the Menu Sabor, which consists of 13 dishes, each of which is delicious on its own. Carefully prepared with top-quality ingredients and excellent cooking with a focus on pure flavor, this dish is truly outstanding.
The wine list is one of the finest I’ve seen, with a superb range of Spanish wines as well as a very excellent collection of wines from all of the world’s major wine producing regions. Having a preference for Spanish wines, I was happy to see red wines from Curii on the wine list; however, the Curii wines are produced by Alberto, the head sommelier at L’Escaleta and a part owner of the establishment. Curii Uvas & Vinos 2014 is a superb wine created from Giro (Garnatxa) grapes and sourced from the region east of Cocentaina, with exceptional winemaking. I picked it because it is wonderful.
The service was excellent, really professional without ever being pretentious, and was the frosting on the cake, to say nothing of the food.

In addition to being a beautiful and soothing atmosphere, I look forward to going there in the summer and sitting outdoors. No one with even a passing interest in superb cuisine should pass up the opportunity to dine at this 2 star Michelin establishment, which is just about an hour’s drive from Alicante and Valencia and well worth the journey. We will surely be back, and we will do so many times over the next several years.
