Ophelia, located in an art déco villa on the shores of Lake Constance, is the premier fine dining establishment in Konstanz, and Dirk Hoberk and his team completely deserve their two Michelin stars and other honors. We had a fantastic meal that started with a fantastic amuse bouche (Lake Constance whitefish; cauliflower truffle; charred leek; a very interesting Duroc ‘kataifi’), continued with Scallop with Fennel, Dill, Buttermilk, and Caviar, the Carabinero, Monkfish with artichoke and pork belly, and ended with Guinea Fowl and dessert. In terms of attention and formality, service was adequate, but we were comparing it to the service at Schwarzwaldstube the night before. The wine list is heavy on regional and German wines; nevertheless, it should be noted that the Wines from the Bodensee (Lake Constance) section at the beginning of the wine list does not clearly differentiate between whites and reds, which might lead to misunderstandings, as it did in our case… Overall, it was one of the best two-star establishments that we have encountered over the years…
