A visit to Emmanuel Renaut’s Flocons de Sel (salt flakes) restaurant in Leutaz, which is situated outside of town, gives a new meaning to the term “high-end food.” Even with the journey out of town, it’s a fantastic Megève dining choice. The 10-course tasting menu, though expensive, provides a unique opportunity to dine with one of France’s greatest chefs on simple but carefully selected ingredients—freshwater crayfish, scallops en croûte with sea salt, and roast wood pigeon are just a few of the imaginatively prepared specialties—and is well worth the price of admission alone. Dining room design that is rustic and uncluttered, enabling the food to take center stage. The institution, which is surrounded by a series of chalets and a plethora of natural magnificence, provides six excellent guest rooms as well as three private cabins for crawl-away convenience.
